Little Wide Open

Little Wide Open is Kevin Morby’s eighth studio album — a sweeping, reflective work rooted in memory, landscape and the emotional pull of the American Midwest. For Morby, the “little wide open” represents both the vast skies and the quiet, interior spaces that shaped him: cicadas humming, trains passing, tornado sirens in the distance — beauty and unease existing side by side.

Produced by Aaron Dessner at Long Pond Studio in 2025, the album continues the loose trilogy that began with Sundowner (2020) and This Is a Photograph (2022), tracing Morby’s reconnection to his Kansas City origins. Dessner’s expansive yet restrained production elevates the songs without overshadowing their intimacy, bringing clarity and confidence to Morby’s evocative songwriting.

Featuring contributions from a wide cast of collaborators including Justin Vernon, Lucinda Williams, Katie Gavin, Amelia Meath and Meg Duffy, Little Wide Open balances heartland storytelling with subtle grandeur. Pressed across two Ecomix vinyl LPs, this edition pairs thoughtful craftsmanship with environmentally conscious production — a fitting presentation for one of Morby’s most resonant releases.
